Mythical One Horned Gundams

Oh boy. Perfect grading is intense. So this weekend I took a break and tried to figure out my painting setup. Airbrush and compressor are purchased but now all I need is to get a spray box. In order to get Unicorn painted, I had to spray out the window again. I really do not like this option as I feel like I'm going to drop the damn runner. I also have to wrap my arm in a trash bag as I do not own latex gloves.

In order to prepare for the airbrushing, I've been watching a lot of videos online of very monotone Gundam nerds and their modeling. Super helpful and great technique, but sitting through them is murder. I just need to be patient.

In preparation for having Tarina over to watch Farscape, my lovely little cave needed to be organized. It's sad it took someone visiting to get me to clean, but it worked. It's pretty glorious and I need to keep it this way. In the process of cleaning my office, I started to stack my "Empties." It's pretty amazing how many of these I've gone through.

The 00 pile definitely got a little bigger as the clear parts were released. I have a large project on my hands. Nothing I can't handle for sure. I'm really enjoying this way too much.

So, pretty good weekend. I haven't had this busy of a work week in a long time. This new job is pretty nonstop and I definitely like it that way. I haven't been keeping up with my RSS feeds and the number of posts on Google Reader is well over 2000+.  Friday night Tarina and I ended up watching the "Princess Trilogy" of Farscape and she kept telling me how it "gets better" the deeper in we get. I don't mind the show at all, it's a lot of fun. The only problem with it is that has to compete with a lot of other shows for my attention while I work.

Saturday, I went out and searched for paint. Paint turned in the GNX seen above and the 00 Clear Parts. Oh well, I was given bad advice to check out Pearl Paint. They didn't really have a nice selection. Today, I am heading to a couple hobby shops in Midtown and if those fail to help me, then I have to head up into the UES territory. Gods help me.

But now, I am off to have brunch with those friends of mine.

Keep it metal, internets.

In a master grade, there are little lights with batteries. Well, with older PGs like this and Zeta, it's wiring. So if you guys don't hear from me then I've been electrocuted. Oh, readers, how I barely knew you!

Anyway, back to it. I thought you'd enjoy an updated.

TOMORROW - Backpack and Weapons. The backpack houses the battery pack. We'll see how this goes.

It looks like Zeta will be a full weekend project as will the 00. Do I want to paint Unicorn and get that finished before the episodes air? Still trying to decide. White is probably going to be a lot more forgiving but the paint is a matte paint, which could look a LOT better with the under layers of the bright pink. Decisions. I also need to find a better place to spray paint. Out my window is tiresome.

Moving on, I have Swedes in town next weekend so I will have to work on one of them during the work week. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I didn't see Lovisa and Linnea when they come stateside. They're far too much fun. Plus, I haven't seen them in at least 6 months.

Oh yeah, I better go to sleep soon. I start my first day on the edit side of Outdoor Life tomorrow.

Holler.

Prepping for SHOT Show
prime
[info]bigbetterirish

So today, The Basterd and I went to go take care of something that has been an issue for a while: my lack of nice things to wear for SHOT Show. We headed over to warehouse for men (I know, I know, but it was needed quickly). On the way back we found some nice guerrilla art on the sidewalk. So, obviously, it needed to be test. Verdict? Satisfactory.

I head to Vegas on Monday night and this begins my wild journey into the ridiculous world of Shooting / Gun enthusiasts. Do not worry, dear readers, I will have three cameras on me at all times. Prepare for amazing.

Further Study.

Chef Broyardee is Dead. My account that has been active since Beta has been canceled. I've told people for months now that I've quit but something inside of me wouldn't let me drop the axe.

Being unplugged from the world (of warcraft) has given me a lot of time. The time itself has been spoken for by numerous other activities. Some long lost. Some new and exciting. I've dusted off the Malazan Book of the Fallen in order to finally finish it. There is a Donaldson series next in line as well as a Steampunk-ish Youth Novel that the concept art piqued my interest called Leviathan. It feels good to read again for something other than escapism. I've also picked up Transmetropolitan after a glowing review from several people now. Many of whom were mortified that I have overlooked it. I apologize profusely and the slight to Mr. Ellis has been corrected.

As for new hobbies, well, if you've been reading these posts at all, you already understand.

Sinanju has been sitting on my desk for a while now. I've pursued a few other projects in order to make sure I wasn't in over my head. Infinite Justice was a very fun distraction at the very least and is a repainting project for the future. Well, wednesday the basterd and I picked up the spray paint and sealer. He needed a couple more kits while I needed motivation to move forward. This weekend has promises of paint fumes and fire escapes.

My focus has been erratic since my return from the frigid reaches of the north. Between fighting for a new position at work and a new comrade to brave new creative avenues, my attention has been hard to keep. I sort of enjoy the chaos that comes with it, though.

More to come as it develops. I have a feeling I have a date with spray paint tomorrow night.

The Upcoming Change of Year
serious
[info]bigbetterirish

I am going to Maine. Not sure why everyone I know is up there, but they are. Assholes.

So around 6pm Eastern Standard Time, I am loading up a rental truck with a couple other confused New Yorkers and we're venturing into the Wild White Yonder that is the Northeast. This is definitely my first trip up and I'm looking forward to it. We're supposed to have "bad weather" on Saturday for the drive home, but I fear no winter storm. I'm from the land of "Lake Effect." I know how this shit works. ( Is all this bravado bragging or is it my subconscious bolstering myself so I don't worry about it? Both. )

I did half a Shin Musha Gundam last night as I am not yet ready to tackle the glory that is Sinanju. I'm a definitely going to have to tear this guy apart again and repaint him. The stock red is too boring. Luckily the armor pops off rather easy and the inner skeleton is pretty solid.

I also might have company for dinner on Sunday. More details as they develop. Every time I talk about a date with any sort of excitement it gets jinxed. Thus, I will say nothing of it for now. I now you're twitching with anticipation. Contain yourself, internets.

Now it is time for a nap before I set out on my adventure. Happy New Year. Let's hope this one blows a lot less than the last.

Ugh, why can't my friend's page have an RSS feed so I don't have to come back here? Anyone know if LJ offers that?

In the meantime, here is the RSS feed to my new blog as I'd rather not double post.

Oh Robert Downey Jr.

Adding more flesh and blood to the new movie, Scarlett Johansson joined the cast as Stark’s mysterious new assistant, Natasha, who has an alter ego of her own, Black Widow. That introduction inevitably sparks romantic tension between Stark and former assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), who’s been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries. "The men want it to be, like, 'Ooh, the girls are fighting over Tony,' but it's not as standard as that," says Paltrow. "There's a weird male catfight fantasy. Downey agrees. He believes what differentiates the franchise from other superhero series can be summarized as follows: "We're horny. Not, like, can't-bring-your-kids horny, but just…horny."
